Ah, Valentines Day. The pink and red holiday that always seems to be on steroids. Did you know that this has always been my least favorite holiday? No joke. Even now that I’m married. Valentines Day is just an excuse for Flower Shoppes to overcharge for Roses that will be dead within a week, and for Hallmark to make millions in less than 24 hours thanks to the husbands/boyfriends who wait until the very last minute to go buy a card. Love is something that should be celebrated and embraced every single day. Not just on a holiday like today. But, anyway. Now that I’ve been a Scrooge [wait…wrong holiday] and dampered your festive fun…if you’re looking for a love story you can read one right here or right here. They’re good ones. I promise! But if you’re here visiting from The Mommyologist, then WELCOME!
If you’re here for No Mom Talk Monday, don’t worry!! The link up for the meme is at the bottom of this post! So you can still join in!
In case your curious as to what’s going on today at Mary’s blog, let me enlighten you. Today it’s all about loving ourselves, Mama’s! We’ve all had Valentine’s Day’s where we didn’t get the affirmation from our husbands/boyfriends we were hoping for and we ended up feeling like crap for the rest of the day. Well not today! Mary’s idea is to tell the whole world why we are awesome and what we love about ourselves in order to provide our own self gratification and affirmation today. I wrote the other day about all of the things I do that are “bad” and annoying, but today it’s all about why I’m just stinkin’ awesome.
~ I’m a really GREAT mom. My son may watch too much TV at times, and he may throw his tantrums like all two year olds do, but at the end of the day, I’m a really, really good mother. My son is a total mama’s boy right now, coming to me when he needs a hug, a kiss or a “Cars Boo-Boo” [a Cars band-aid for his cuts, bruises, etc.]. His love and his smile is total affirmation that I’m good at my job.
~ I’m a GREAT friend, as well. I’m loyal to my friends, and will be there for any of them at the drop of a hat for whatever it may be that they need. Midnight phone call because you’ve had a fight with your husband? I’m there. Need a good cry because you’re having a bad day? I gotcha, babe! Just want to vent because life sucks sometimes? Go for it. I’ll vent with you.
~ Though I’m not perfect, I’m a good wife as well. I’m all about doing the little things that make my husband feel loved and appreciated. Tiny notes and letters left in unexpected places, his favorite cookies or snack stocked in the cabinet, or his favorite meal [my husband likes to eat] on the table by surprise. I’m a devoted wife who loves to make her man smile.
~ I have great hair. The stylist always tells me that I have the hair people dream of. The color, the texture, the thickness…my hair really is fabulous. It’s easy to style, it’s thick enough to hold shape and curl like I want it and it’s a great color. Love it.
~ Same with my eyes. How many people can say that their natural eye color coordinates with their outfits no matter what they are wearing? I can. Dark colors, my eyes look golden brown. Greens? My eyes are green. Blues? My eyes turn a fierce teal with a dark green tint. And they are shaped in a way that makes it easy to do all kinds of fun techniques with my eye makeup.
~ I’ve got plenty of “junk in the trunk” and I’m not afraid to flaunt it. Enough said.
~ I write a mean blog. While I may not be as awesome as some of the others, I’m pretty sure that my writing is good and that one day, not sure how far down the road that day is, I’ll be up there with some of the “blogging greats” [Good Lord, willing].
~ My accent…I’m a southerner. Call it a drawl, call it whatever you want, but us Southern Girls have the greatest accents. You Yankee’s [and I am totally kidding when I call some of you Yankee’s] can say what you want about our sloooow twang, but the Southern Accent is where it’s at. I’ll take my Fried Chicken & my Sweet Tea any day.
What about you? What makes you fabulous? Head over to The Mommyologist to read what other ladies are saying about themselves and to link up a post of your own. We’re all pretty awesome; it’s just a matter of letting ourselves see it!
Happy Valentines Day!
