Once upon a time, I could somehow keep my life together. I went to work, I came home. I did whatever cleaning needed doing and boom! Done. Life was simple. The to-do lists that I needed to keep tabs on were pretty menial and I wasn’t one to have an overly active social life. So a “calendar” or a “day planner” wasn’t something that I needed or ever thought about.
Fast forward to 2008 and things started to pick up. I had a husband. And a baby. And he had a job. I started blogging and slowly our days started to get a little more…busy. But life didn’t really pick up until 2011 when I started my own business then had another baby in 2012 and had our oldest in preschool. That’s when a friend introduced me to Emily Ley.
While I was at that point someone who kept reminders on sticky notes, my fool proof system was starting to fail me as our days got busier and life got more involved. School projects, doctors appointments, social get together’s with church or friends, travel days, vacations…you name it. It felt like I had a life again-and a very active one at that.
Since then, I’ve purchased a planner pretty much every single time Emily launches a new one. These planners are not only absolutely gorgeous but they are sturdy, built to last (so they are super durable and fit great inside my oversized purse) and totally functional.
Features that won me over…
One of my favorite parts of this 2016 edition of The Simplified Planner was the 2016 Bucket List section. Paired with my Lara Casey Powersheets, I was able to lay out some of the most important goals for myself and my family in 2016. They are right at the front of the planner so I see them whenever I pop it open to check my schedule.
I also love that Emily thought to include a section at the end of each week to highlight and take note of what is important.
I don’t know about you, but I forget what I have for breakfast most mornings, so I love that at the end of every week, I can write down what has happened throughout the week. Speaking of breakfast…each day has a meal planning section that allows you to keep track of what you’ve eaten or what you’re planning to cook.
While I don’t generally schedule appointments at 6:00 am, each week day has the hours laid out from 6:00 am – 9:00 pm to ensure plenty of space to write appointments. My favorite feature is the to-do list section on each and every page. I am an over-achiever, so even on the weekends, you can bet that I have something scribbled here. Aside from the total functionality of this planner, the pages are thick and I am able to use both my LePens and my Staedtler pens without bleeding through.

Unfortunately, ALL of the 2016 planners are now SOLD OUT. And the new planners aren’t hitting the market until the Spring launch in May. BUT, in an effort to raise money for our Adoption, I snagged one of the beautiful Happy Stripe Planners (the very one that I use) to give away here on my blog!
How it works…
As of right now we have only raised $520 for our adoption. $200 of that went to our application fee, $165 of that went toward purchasing the adoption classes that my husband and I have to take online and complete before we can do our home study. And the adoption agency is asking for $3500 to complete our Home Study. We can not apply for any grants or adoption funding until we do our home study. So this fundraiser is kind of a big deal. The Simplified Planner is valued at $58.00 + Shipping. To win this planner, all we are asking for is a $10.00 donation.
For every $10.00 you donate, you will earn yourself one entry.
That’s it. That’s all you have to do. If we could get 350 people to enter at $10 each we could hit that $3500.00 goal with ease. With that $3500 we are one stop closer to bringing our baby home. Would you consider helping? I’m offering an additional entry for everyone who is subscribed to my newsletter AND makes a donation. I would love it if you would consider sharing this image on social media. We are aiming to hit that $3500 mark, but we can’t do it without your help!
