When I started blogging back in 2008, I didn’t realize what a viable part of our family history I was putting together. What started as a creative outlet for my own personal sanity, has become a journal, a baby book, a family heirloom, and a scrapbook all rolled into one. Through this blog I’ve been able to keep track of the birth of our son, my second pregnancy, the milestones and growth he’s made in the last three years, separation, deployment, and a move across country. I’ve talked about myself, but it’s only natural that I introduce you to my beautiful (or, I better say “handsome”) family.
The Husband
Better known around here as “The hubs.” This is my masculine, overly-southern, Rock Music loving, Medical Guru husband, Josh. He’s my best friend, my soul mate, and the best father any little kid could ask for. He’s been my rock during some pretty tough times in the almost five years that we’ve been together, and I can’t imagine my life without him.
He’s a Corpsman in the United States Coast Guard, and is on the path to pursuing his goals of becoming a Cardiothoracic Surgical Physician’s Assistant. He’s medically minded and passionate about his job, and his family. He spends countless hours studying and researching the latest medical information online, and nothing excites him more than chatting someone up about some sort of medical issue. Except maybe Alabama Football.
He’s a sports fanatic. Everything from Red Sox Baseball and Alabama Football to the World Cup & the NBA. If it comes on ESPN, he’s game. He also has a softer, goofier side, but I’m usually the only one he reveals it to. He can drive me crazy one second, and then turn right around and have me falling in love with him all over again. He’s just that kind of guy. And he’s a good man. A real and genuinely good man who loves his country, his God and his family. I lucked out with this one, and I thank God daily for putting us together. (For posts about my husband, click here!)
Little Man
Our three year old son, Noah. Born with a smile on his face in October 2008, this little guy has been the light of our lives from the moment he came into the world. He’s a total goof ball, and loves to act silly and make everyone around him laugh. And at the same time, he’s compassionate and loving. He gives the sweetest hugs and the best kisses.
From the moment he was born, this little guy has been all about the world of Sports…an attribute he got from his daddy. At a mere three days old, he threw a foam football out of his bassinet. When he was an infant, he preferred to sit in a bouncer and watch ESPN over watching Playhouse Disney and Baby Einstein’s. He understands the general concept of every sport he has been subjected to (Football, Basketball, Golf, Baseball and Soccer), and has no trouble bouncing from one sport to the next in a matter of minutes.
He’s also a fan of anything that moves…cars, airplanes, trains and helicopters, to name a few. He’s recently discovered the world of Transformers and spends a lot of his time during the day pretending to be Optimus Prime or Bubblebee. He’ll tell you a heartbeat that “Megatron is a baaaaad kid.” We also have a few hundred cars floating around the house and nothing occupies him more in the store, or the car, than a new Race Car. He’s never been a picky eater, and puts everything you offer him away like it’s his last meal.
While his daddy is his best buddy when it comes to playtime, this little boys heart still belongs to his mama. And I’m hoping that it stays that way for a long, long time.
